Lost archives: 1971 Type 105 ext.

The Type 105, designed by Akio Morita, a former Formula 1 aerodynamicist for the Honda team.  He led  the development of the car and insisted on using the latest material innovations and technological solutions.

The 105 showcased what is commonly referred to as the first carbon fibre monocoque chassis of any production car.  The carbon fibre structure weighed in at a very slim 500 pounds, the whole car weighed only 1700 lbs.

This low eight coupled with the advanced aerodynamics of the exterior body and wings allowed for incredible performance. This utilizing of Ettores philosophy of intelligent design, materials and low weight in the 105 was in essence a true return to the old bugati traditions of high performance road cars.
